Expert association with tradition

The SEPAWA expert association is marked by a traditional history that goes back to the 18. century. Its original foundation began with an association of soap boilers which became the first loose association of the soap boiling craft in the year 1755 in Munich. One year later it evolved into the trade guild of soap boilers, of which the original guilt cup is still existence to this day. In the year 1900 the founding of the "Association of soap boilers and perfumers" took place in Munich. In 1920 this led to a national confederation with the "Soap Boiler Association" founded in Berlin in the year 1909.

In the 50s soap boilers were forced to re-organise themselves due to the indusdtrial changes: by including experts of the detergent industry, a timely form of organisation had to be found.
Therefore, following the soap boiler conference in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in October 1954, the SEPAWA was brought into existence and thereafter annual conventions were held in Bad Dürkheim.

Whereas soap, detergent and cosmetic products used to be equally important, the preoccupation with synthetic detergent ingredients came more and more to the fore as the years went by. Small craftsmen shops turned into medium-sized industrial firms. With these the industry reached the threshold of becoming a large scale industry with new challenges to face.SEPAWA reacted to this restructure by focusing on new tasks and by reorganizing. Therefore, the demand of training and informing experts of the trade was continued to be met.
