71 | Design and Characterization of Innovative Topical Emulgels Stabilized by Mometasone-Based Surfactants

Despite the wide application potential of emulsions, their low physical stability necessitates the search for novel technological solutions, such as emulgels. By combining the properties of both gels and emulsions, these systems offer enhanced structural stability and unique sensory attributes, including ease of application. Non-ionic surfactants with biological activity play a pivotal role in their formulation; due to their biocompatibility and low skin irritation potential, they have become the preferred emulsifiers in modern cosmetology and pharmacy.
This study evaluates the impact of synthesized mometasone-based surfactants on the stability profile and application properties of emulgels, which serve as a foundation for a new generation of skincare and dermatological treatments. A comprehensive physicochemical characterization, including pH and density measurements as well as rigorous stability testing, was extended to include sensory parameter analysis. The results demonstrate that systems based exclusively on synthetized surfactants exhibit high structural stability, representing a promising base for modern dermal formulation.
