Lecture Program

The Science behind the Clean

Join us for the EDC 2025 – “The Science behind the Clean”. We unveil the fundamental design principles and chemical processes that make our cleaning agents so effective. Discuss with us how sustainable surfactants and amphiphilic polymers can be engineered and tailored to various applications on specific surfaces and at interfaces. This, in combination with different in-depth characterization techniques, allows understanding cleaning and associated processes down to the molecular level. Join us and expand your knowledge about the chemical principles of cleanliness for a healthier and safer environment. We are looking forward to seeing you at the EDC 2025.

Poster Exposition

In conjunction with the SEPAWA CONGRESS, the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry organizes a scientific poster session. The best EDC posters are awarded with one of up to four poster awards.

When & Where?

Wednesday to Friday, 15 – 17 October 2025 during the opening times in Foyer 2nd Floor

You will have the opportunity to submit a poster application starting 04 February 2025.

Awards

Annually, the GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry awards a Young Scientist Award each for an excellent bachelor, masters, and PhD thesis, respectively, with special focus on the development of detergents and cleaners – provided qualified suggestions have been submitted.

Award Ceremony

Wednesday, 15 October 2025 in Room Auditorium

Nominations and applications can be submitted until: 31 March 2025

The Division of Detergent Chemistry awards the “Division Award” at irregular intervals for well-deserved personalities in the field of detergent chemistry.

GDCh Division of Detergent Chemistry

The aim of the Division of Detergent Chemistry of the German Chemical Society is to create a forum of interested persons from industry, governmental agencies, universities, research institutes, and media in which discussions about all technical questions with respect to detergents can be held openly and constructively. The focus is hereby on scientifically oriented declarations about the sustainable use of detergents for human beings in their environment. Another important aspect of the Division’s work is the support of young scientists.

German Chemical Society (GDCh)

Numbering some 30,000 members from academia, industry and the professions, the GDCh represents a large and socially important community of experts. The organization’s 150-year history, global network and high scientific and social standards form the foundation for future-oriented activities in pursuit of a world that can sustain human life at a level worth the living. Chemistry needs to receive due recognition and support. It is our ambition that chemistry gets better understood and appreciated and is given room to unfold its full potential in all of its variety.

With this aim in mind:

  • We promote scientific work, research and teaching.
  • We support the formation of networks,
  • We seek intensive and constructive dialogue with the general public
  • We bring our expertise actively and continually into the academic world, the sciences, the political sphere and society
  • We act independently, consistently and sustainably for the benefit of society, constantly mindful of the needs of coming generations.
